Question 972460
<pre>
The decimal 0.005 is read as "five thousandths".

The fraction {{{5/1000}}} is ALSO read as "five thousandths".

So they are the same thing.

We can't "reduce" the decimal, but we CAN reduce the fraction!

We divide the top and bottom of {{{5/1000}}} by 5

{{{"5÷5"/"1000÷5"}}}{{{""=""}}}{{{1/200}}}

That's a quotient of two integers because 1 and 200 are both
integers and putting one over the other is dividing and when
we divide we get a quotient.
