Question 82481
I AM CUTTING A 15 DEGREE ANGLE ON A MACHINE. FROM THE TOP OF THE PIECE TO THE BOTTOM OF WHERE THE DEGREE MUST END IS 1.75 INCHES. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT HOW FAR IN THE SHORT SIDE IS.
------------
If I read you right you have a right triangle; the angle
at the top is 15 degrees; the side perpendicular to the base
is 1.75 inches; the length of the side opposite the 90 degree
angle is of no interest to you; you want to know the length
of the 3rd side which is the shortest side of the triangle.
--------
Let the length of that side be "x"
Then tan(15)=x/1.75
x=1.75*tan(15)
x=0.4689 inches
