Question 960522

Hi, having difficulty with this question:

Sqrt(X-14) + sqrt(X-5) = 3

Thanks
<pre>{{{sqrt(x - 14) + sqrt(x - 5) = 3}}}
{{{sqrt(x - 14) = 3 - sqrt(x - 5)}}} --------- Subtracting {{{sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{(sqrt(x - 14))^2 = (3 - sqrt(x - 5))^2}}} ---- Squaring both sides
{{{x - 14 = 9 - 6sqrt(x - 5) + x - 5}}}
{{{x - 14 = x + 9 - 5 - 6sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{x - 14 = x + 4 - 6sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{x - x - 14 - 4 = - 6sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{- 18 = - 6sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{(- 18)/(- 6) = sqrt(x - 5)}}}
{{{3 = sqrt(x - 5)}}}
9 = x - 5 ------ Squaring both sides
9 + 5 = x________{{{highlight_green(14 = x)}}}
