Question 959420
'm having trouble with this question: The mean of three numbers is 31. The second is 1 more than twice the first. The third is 4 less than 3 times the first. Find the numbers.
***
let x=1st number
2x+1=2nd number
3x-4=3rd number
..
(x+2x+1+3x-4)/3=31 (average of 3 numbers=31)
6x-3=93
6x=96
x=16
2x+1=33
3x-4=44
numbers are: 16, 33, and 44

note:"mean" just means average in this case
