Evaluate the logarithm by hand log.001 and log4 16. This is what I have for log.001=-3, 10^-3 
log(10^-3) is -3
Not sure if that's what you meant.

and log4 16= 4^2
16 = 4^2
--> {{{log(4,16) = log(4,4^2)}}}
= 2

Am I on the right track?
