Question 947258
 The glass for a window is 7.5 ft wide.
 About how high must a doorway have be in order for a contractor to get the glass through the door if the doorway is 3 ft wide?
:
Assuming the shorter side of the glass is 7.5 ft, carried thru the door diagonally we can solve this as follow:
Using pythag, a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where:
a = 3 ft
b = the height of the door which we are trying to find
c = 7.5 ft
{{{3^2 + b^2 = 7.5^2}}}
{{{9 + b^2 = 56.25}}}
{{{b^2 = 56.25 - 9}}}
{{{b^2 = 47.25}}}
b = {{{sqrt(47.25)}}}
b = 6.9 ft, Which is 6 + .9(12) = 6 ft 10.5 inch door would do nicely
