Question 80251
{{{log 4x= log 5+log((x+1))}}}
First, get the x terms alone on one side of the equation:
{{{log4x-log((x+1))=log5}}}
You can use a log property to rewrite the left hand side:
{{{log((4x/((x+1))))=log5}}}
Now you can raise 10 to each side of the equation, effectively cancelling out the logs:
{{{4x/(x+1)=5}}}
solve for x:
{{{4x=5x+5}}}
{{{highlight(x=-5)}}}
