A simple way is to expand the numerator, leaving *[tex \frac{x + 2\sqrt{x} + 1}{x} = 1 + 2x^{-1/2} + x^{-1}]. Then its derivative is taken simply by power rule.


You can also use the quotient rule, but it's a little messier.
