1. Factor completely:

x&lt;sup&gt;5&lt;/sup&gt;y&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt; – 3x&lt;sup&gt;4&lt;/sup&gt;y&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; – 28x&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt;y

Take out x&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt;y

x&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt;y(x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt;y&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; - 3xy - 28)

Factor the trinomial in parentheses:

x&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt;y(xy - 7)(xy + 4)

2.  Factor completely:
x&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt; – 2x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; + 6x – 12

Take x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; out of the first two terms only

x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt;(x - 2) + 6x - 12

Take + 6 out of the last two terms only

x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt;(x - 2) + 6(x - 2)

Take out (x - 2)

(x - 2)(x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; + 6)

4.  Factor completely:

Take out 3

3(x&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; - 25y&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt;)

3(x - 5y)(x + 5y)
