Question 930787

Please help me I'm lost

solve by the addition method:

 x+y=4 and 2x+y=5
<pre>
  x + y =   4 ------- eq (i)
 2x + y =   5 ------- eq (ii)
- x - y = - 4 ------- Multiplying eq (i) by - 1 ------ eq (iii)
      x =   1 ------- Adding eqs (iii) & (ii)

  1 + y = 4 --------- Substituting 1 for x in eq (i)
      y = 4 - 1
      y = 3
{{{highlight_green(system(x = 1_when, y = 3))}}}
You can do the check!!
