Question 78777
This problem can be boiled down to having 2 equations with 2 unknowns. If you have as many equations as unknowns, you can always find the unknowns!
Let w=Word Processing Program
Let f=Financial Program
From the first statement, you can write the following equation:
Equation #1: {{{12w+10f=6520}}}
From the second statement, you can write the following equation:
Equation #2:{{{6w+7f=3940}}}
Now solve for w in terms of f in Equation #1:
{{{12w=6520-10f}}}
{{{w=((6520-10f)/12)}}}
Now, you can take this equation for w, and substitute it into Equation #2:
{{{6((6520-10f)/12)+7f=3940}}}
Now, solve for f:
{{{((6520-10f)/2)+7f=3940}}}
Simplify...
{{{3260-5f+7f=3940}}}
{{{2f=680}}}
{{{f=340}}}
Now that you know f, you can plug that into Equation #1 and solve for w.
I will leave that part to you :-)
