Question 78658
{{{x^2-5x=6}}}
First, equate to zero:
{{{x^2-5x-6=0}}}
When factoring something like this, you need to think
of what factors of -6, when combined, add up to 5. Well,
I know that {{{1*(-6)=-6}}}, and {{{6-1=5}}}, so these are
my factors.
You can rewrite this as follows:
{{{(x+1)(x-6)=0}}}
Multiply this out to prove to yourself that the result
is the initial equation.
To solve this, equate each factor to 0, and solve for x:
{{{x=-1}}} and {{{x=6}}}
These are your answers.

Good Luck,
