Question 927526

Can i please have help with: 1/3x + y = 5/3 and x^2 + y^2 = 25 I need to solve the system by way of substitution.
<pre><font face = "Tohoma" size = 4 color = "indigo"><b>{{{(1/3)x + y = 5/3}}}_____{{{y = 5/3 - (1/3)x}}} ------- eq (i)
{{{x^2 + y^2 = 25}}} ------- eq (ii)
Substitute {{{5/3 - (1/3)x}}} for y in eq (ii)
Solving for x will result in:
{{{highlight_green(system (x = 5_when, y = 0))}}}
OR
{{{highlight_green(system (x = - 4_when, y = 3))}}}
You can do the check!!</font face = "Tohoma" size = 4 color = "indigo"></b>
