Question 927485
if x +2y=32 and y / 2x=0.75 what are the values for x and y?
<pre><font face = "Tohoma" size = 4 color = "indigo"><b>
x + 2y = 32 -------- eq (i)
{{{y/(2x) = .75}}}______1.5x = y____1.5x - y = 0 ------- eq (ii)
3x - 2y = 0 ------ Multiplying eq (ii) by 2 ------- eq (iii)
4x = 32 ------ Adding eqs (iii) & (i)
x = {{{32/4}}}, or 8
8 + 2y = 32 ------ Substituting 8 for x in eq (i)
2y = 32 - 8
2y = 24
y = {{{24/2}}}, or 12
{{{highlight_green(system(x = 8, y = 12))}}}</font face = "Tohoma" size = 4 color = "indigo"></b>
You can do the check!!
