Question 10596
Then you DID state it correctly the first time! Your re-post has a slight error in it that you might want to correct.

{{{f(x)=2x^4+4x^2+2x-3 = -1}}}
{{{2x^4+4x^2+2x-3 +1 = 0}}}
{{{2x^4+4x^2+2x-2=0}}}

You can factor out a 2:

{{{2(x^4 + 2x^2 + x -1) =0}}}

However, I don't see any way to factor this any further. Using my graphing calculator, it seems there are TWO REAL ROOTS, but they are irrational as far as I can tell. Maybe Kenny, Igor, or one of the other tutors will pick up the re-post of this question. You stumped me, at least for now. Maybe tomorrow I'll take another look at this.
