Question 922954
x+y = 0 leads to y = -x

-------------------------------------------------------

x+3y = -4

x + 3(-x) = -4

x - 3x = -4

-2x = -4

x = -4/(-2)

x = 2

-------------------------------------------------------

y = -x

y = -2

-------------------------------------------------------

The solution as an ordered pair is (2, -2)

Notice how y is -2 and NOT +2.

Let me know if that helps or not. Thanks.
