Question 917168
|3x+5| = 1-x

3x+5 = (1-x) or 3x+5 = -(1-x)

3x+5 = 1-x or 3x+5 = -1+x

3x = 1-x-5 or 3x = -1+x-5

3x+x = 1-5 or 3x-x = -1-5

4x = -4 or 2x = -6

x = -4/4 or x = -6/2

x = -1 or x = -3

The two solutions are x = -1 or x = -3
