Question 77528
Solve the second equation for y

{{{8=5x-y}}}

{{{8-5x=-y}}} Subtract 5x from both sides

{{{y=5x-8}}} Multiply both sides by negative 1

Now graph {{{y=2x+6}}} and {{{y=5x-8}}} and see where they intersect

{{{ graph( 300, 200, -6, 10, -2, 20, 2x+6, 5x-8) }}} graph of {{{y=2x+6}}} and {{{y=5x-8}}}

So the intersection appears to be about (4.5,15). Of course this is all an approximation since I'm using the graph.
