Question 913411
FOIL method would be more of a chore than just using a lattice approach, since one of the factors has three terms. FOIL is generally applied to multiplying two binomials. You have a binomial multiplied by a TRINOMIAL.

FOIL is an acronym for FIRST, OUTER, INNER, LAST.

Really wanting FOIL, then try an association:

{{{(y-3)((2y^3-4y)+5)}}}
F:  {{{y(2y^3-4y)=2y^3-4y^2}}}
O:  {{{5y}}}
I:  {{{-3(2y^3-4y)=-6y^3+12y}}}
L:  {{{-3*5=-15}}}

Putting the pieces into a sum,
{{{2y^3-4y^2+5y-6y^3+12y-15}}}
which you should be able to simplify.
