Question 911116
The sum of two numbers (x+y)subtracted from twice the bigger number(2y) results in 5. If the smaller of the two(x) is increased five times(5x), it would be the same as 11 more than twice the bigger number(2y). What are the numbers?

2y-(x+y)=5
y-x=5........................(1)

5x=11+(2y)

5x-2y=11.....................(2)

multiply eq (2) by 5 and to (2)

5y-5x=25

3y=24
/3
y =8

Plug y

y-x=5
8-x=5
-x=-3
x=3

3 & 8
