Question 910034

your solution is correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The total of two numbers is {{{41}}}...=> {{{x+y=41}}}.....eq.1

One of the number, let's say {{{x}}} is {{{19}}} less than {{{3}}} times the other,let's say {{{y}}}

{{{x}}} is {{{19}}} less than {{{3y}}} means add {{{19}}} to {{{x}}} to make it equal to {{{3y}}}

 {{{x+19=3y}}} ....eq.2 ..solve for {{{x}}} and plug it in eq.1

{{{x=3y-19}}}

{{{x+y=41}}}.....eq.1

{{{3y-19+y=41}}} .....solve for {{{y}}}

{{{4y-19=41}}}

{{{4y=41+19}}}

{{{4y=60}}}

{{{y=60/4}}}

{{{y=15}}}

now find {{{x}}}

{{{x=3y-19}}}

{{{x=3*15-19}}}

{{{x=45-19}}}

{{{x=26}}}
