Question 907709

I'm trying to solve using substitutions. Please help!!!
4x+2y=10
5x-4y=6
<pre>
4x + 2y = 10_____2(2x + y) = 2(5)_____2x + y = 5_____y = 5 - 2x ------- eq (i)
5x - 4y = 6 ------ eq (ii)
5x - 4(5 - 2x) = 6 ------- Substituting 5 - 2x for y in eq (ii)
5x - 20 + 8x = 6
5x + 8x = 6 + 20
13x = 26
x = {{{26/13}}}, or {{{x = 2}}}

y = 5 - 2(2) ------ Substituting 2 for x in eq (i)
y = 5 - 4
y = {{{1}}}
Solution set: {{{highlight_green(highlight_green(system (x = 2, y = 1)))}}}
You can do the check!!
