Question 902926
By definition a square has four equal sides.
The Perimeter of a square is the addition of the four sides.
The length of one side of the square would then be {{{X/4}}}
The area of a rectangle (or square) is given by A = L x W
Where L is the length of the rectangle and W is the width
For the square: {{{A = (X/4)*(X/4)}}}
Which can be rewritten as {{{A = X^2/16}}}
This was done by multiplying both numerators together. And multiplying both denominators together.
-------------
If X = 10
{{{A = X^2/16}}}
{{{A = (10)^2/16}}}
{{{A = 100/16}}}
{{{highlight(A = 6.25cm^2)}}}
