Question 893616

There are three digits, the second digit is four times as big as the third digit, while the first digits is three less than the second digit... What are the numbers?
<pre>
Since 2nd digit is quadruple the 3rd digit, then the 3rd digit MUST BE 1 or 2

Let 3rd digit = 1
2nd digit = 4(1), or 4
1st digit = 4 - 3, or 1
Since it APPEARS as though the 3 digits are distinct, the 3rd and 1st digits can't be 1

Let 3rd digit = 2
2nd digit = 4(2), or 8
1st digit = 8 - 3, or 5
These appear to be the 3 digits, in order: {{{highlight_green(system(1st = 5, 2nd  = 8_and,3rd = 2))}}}
