Question 893064
the area of larger circle A is 16 times greater than smaller circle B. The radius of larger circle A will be how many times greater than that of smaller circle B?
---------------
16 times greater = 17 times the area.
--> radius of A is {{{sqrt(17)}}} times the radius of B
= {{{sqrt(17) - 1}}} times greater
======================================
times as great is not the same as "times greater"
1 time greater is a 100% increase, not the same size.
People who write problems should get it right, but the world is full of morons.
............
You see "10 times smaller..." That makes no sense. 1 time smaller is zero, how can something be 10 times smaller, or 10 times closer?
