Question 889072
To get to work from my home, I travel 8 miles north and then turn west and travel 6 miles. If i could travel in a straight line from my home to work; how much distance would i save?
***
traveling 8 miles north than 6 miles west makes a right triangle with a hypotenuse of 10 miles.
hypotenuse=√(8^2)+(6^2)=√(64+36)=√100=10 (this is the straight line from home to your work)
distance saved=14-10=4
