Question 10073
x: -2 -1  0 1 2
y: -5 -3 -1 1 3

OK, look at the y-values...increasing by 2 every time... this is the 2-times table, just "moved a little" ie 2,4,6,8,10.

so we have y=2x... the 2-times table. However, if x=0 (for example), y=2x gives y=0 in this situation, but our question says y should equal -1, so how about y=2x-1?

check...
if x=-2, then y=2(-2)-1 --> y=-4-1 --> y=-5.

Looks to be correct :-)
