Question 887302

Please help me solve this equation: -1/6(x-18)-1/8(x-8)=x+5.
<pre>
{{{(- 1/6)(x - 18) - (1/8)(x - 8) = x + 5}}}
{{{(- (x - 18))/6 - 1(x - 8)/8 = x + 5}}}
- 4(x - 18) - 3(x - 8) = 24(x + 5) ------- Multiplying by LCD, 24
- 4x + 72 - 3x + 24 = 24x + 120
- 7x + 72 + 24 = 24x + 120
- 7x + 96 = 24x + 120
- 7x - 24x = 120 - 96
- 31x = 24
{{{highlight_green(highlight_green(x = - 24/31))}}}
You can do the check!!

If you need a complete and detailed solution, let me know!!
