Question 9809
It looks like you really do NEED HELP on this one!

Let x = time it takes them to do the paper route together.

This means that in 1 minute, together they can do {{{1/x }}} of the paper route.

In 1 minute working alone, Candy can do 1/70th of the route, and in 1 minute working alone, Tim can do 1/80th of the route.

The equation is that the part Candy can do in 1 minute + the part that time can do in 1 minute = the part they can do together in 1 minute:

{{{1/70 + 1/80 = 1/x}}}

The LCD is 560x, so multiply both sides of the equation by 560x:
{{{(560x) *(1/70) + (560x)*(1/80) = (560x)* (1/x) }}}
{{{8x + 7x = 560}}}
{{{15x = 560}}}
{{{x = 560/15}}}= 37.3  minutes.
