Question 879051

The directions say to solve the equation for x.

-4+log9(2x)=-5

That log is supposed to have a base of 9 if that clears anything up. Could I please have detailed instructions on how to solve it? I have a final tomorrow and I totally forgot how to solve this one. I tried to solve it and I have the answer because they are in the back of packet I received, but I need to know how to do it.

Thank you for your time.
<pre>
{{{- 4 + log (9, 2x) = - 5}}}
{{{log (9, 2x) = - 5 + 4}}}
{{{log (9, 2x) = - 1}}}
{{{2x = 9^-1}}}
{{{2x = 1/9}}}
18x = 1 ------ Cross-multiplying
{{{highlight_green(highlight_green(x = 1/18))}}}
You can do the check!!
