Question 878186

Solve the following system of equations.
4x+9y= 10 x=

5x+8y=19 y=
<pre>
   4x +  9y =   10 ------- eq (i)
   5x +  8y =   19 ------- eq (ii)
- 20x - 45y = - 50 ------ Multiplying eq (i) by - 5 ------ eq (iii)
  20x + 32y =   76 ------ Multiplying eq (i) by 4 -------- eq (iv)
      - 13y =   26 ------ Adding eqs (iv) & (iii)
          y = {{{26/- 13}}}, or {{{highlight_green(highlight_green(y = - 2)))}}}
Substitute - 2 for y in either eq (i) or (ii) to determine the value of x
You should get a value of {{{highlight_green(highlight_green(x  = 7)))}}}
You can do the check!!
