Start with a cube with 4 inch sides

If you were to cut each side in half perfectly, you'd get this new figure

And so you can see that cutting each dimension in half gives you 8 smaller cubes (notice how 2^3 = 8)


That means you can fit <font color="red">8</font> two inch cubes in a four inch cubic box.
