Question 73866
<pre>
Write the equation of the line L satisfying the given geometric conditions.
 L has y-intercept (0, -3) and is parallel to the line with equation y=2/3x+1.

  Slope - Intercept formula

         y = mx + b, where m = slope and b = y-intercept

 Remember that if the lines are parallel to each other,
 The slope are equal.
 Since a line y = (2/3)x + 1 is parallel to the line we are looking for,
 m = 2/3 and according to the given y-intercept = -3

 so the equation of the line we are looking for is

               y = (2/3)x - 3

If you want to see the graph, here it is

    {{{graph (200, 200, -5, 6, -4, 7, (2/3)x+1, (2/3)x-3)}}}

The red line is the graph of y = (2/3)x + 1
The green line is the graph of y = (2/3)x - 3
Notice that the line are parallel to each other.
