Question 870174
Look at those denominators.

{{{2x-8=2(x-4)}}}

{{{x^2-24x-8}}} is not factorable. (assumption, 24x).

{{{x+2}}} is linear binomial and not factorable.

The simplest common denominator would be {{{highlight_green(2(x-4)(x+2)(x^2-24x-8))}}}.
Note that I have <i>assumed</i> you forgot the x factor on the middle term in the trinomial denominator.

Multiply left and right members by {{{2(x-4)(x+2)(x^2-24x-8)}}}; this will allow you to clear the denominators and then proceed to simplify the equation.

{{{2(x-4)(x+2)(x^2-24x-8)(3/(2x-8)-(x-5)/(x^2 - 24x - 8)) = 2(x-4)(x+2)(x^2-24x-8)(7/(x+2))}}}
