Question 863466
The glass in the picture has a height of 14 cm and a diameter of 6 cm. The distance from the bottom of the glass to the top of the liquid is 10 cm. Ice cubes measure 2 cm on each side. How many ice cubes can be added to the liquid in the glass before it will spill over the top of the glass?

Find the volume of the empty portion of the glass

height 14 cm
water in glass = 10cm

empty height = 4cm

Volume of this empty portion = pi * r^2 * h

V= pi*3^2*4

V= 36 pi

Volume of ice cube = 2^3=8 cm^3

Number of cubes = 36 * pi/8
= 14.1

so when you put the fifteenth it will overflow
