Question 72092
<pre>
Find the verticle asymptote of the rational function f(x) = 3x-12/4x-2

Vertical Asymptote refers to a vertical line wherein the graph approaches. remember approaches, it will not touch this line

so if  you have f(x) = 3x-12/4x-2
the vertical asymptote is from the denominator. remember, that the denominator
must not be equal to 0.

      4x - 2 = 0
          4x = 2
           x = 2/4 or 1/2
  the graph approaches x = 1/2

{{{graph (400, 400, -9, 15, -12, 18, (3x-12)/(4x-2))}}}

The vertical line is the asymptote of the graph. notice that the graph approaches the vertical line. it will not touch it
