Question 855774
If a painting is 480 sq inches and the length of painting is 1 and one fifth its width,
 how do I fine dimensions of painting?
:
L * W = 480 sq/in
The length is 1 1/5 the width therefore:
L = 1.2W
Replace L with 1.2W in the area equation
1.2W * W = 480
1.2W^2 = 480
divide both sides by 1.2
W^2 = 480/1.2
W^2 = 400
W = {{{sqrt(400)}}}
W = 20" is the width
I'll let you find the Length, check to see if L * W = 480
