Question 855777
I would like some assistance(explanation too) on the Pythagorean Theorem.
My word problem is as follows:
On one zipline in a canopy tour in Costa Rica, riders drop 58ft. while covering a distance of 840 ft. along the ground. How long is the zip line. I drew my diagram.
a^2+b^2=(x)^2
58^2+840^2= (x)^2
3364+705600=708964
708964=(x)^2
-------
58^2+840^2= (x)^2
3364+705600=708964
708964=(x)^2
x = 842 ft.
