Question 72120
Please help me solve this equation...

{{{(1-3x)/4=(x+6)/3+1/2}}}
:
Mult by a common denominator to get rid of the denominators, 12 is a good one
{{{(12)(1-3x)/4=(12)(x+6)/3+(12)1/2}}}
:
All denominators cancel, leaving:
(3)(1-3x) = (4)(x+6) +(6)1
:
Multiply what's inside the brackets:
3 - 9x = 4x + 24 + 6
3 - 9x = 4x + 30
:
-9x - 4x = 30 - 3
:
-13x = 27
:
x = 27/-13
x = - 27/13, a rather annoying solution, but I checked it by substitution.
