Question 853106
I think the problem should read:
An equation of the line containing given point and parallel to given equation!
(4,5) 3x - 2y = 9
:
Put the equation into the point/slope form to find the slope
3x - 2y = 9
-2y = -3x + 9
y has to be positive 1, divide by -2
y = {{{3/2}}}x - {{{9/2}}}
Write it in decimal form
y = 1.5x - 4.5
Parallel lines have the same slope, find b in the equation
y = 1.5x - b
replace y and x with 5 & 4
5 = 1.5(4) + b
5 = 6 + b
5 - 6 = b
-1 = b
The equation of the parallel line
y = 1.5x - 1
In standard form
-1.5x + y = -1
we want it in integer form, mult eq by 2
-3x + 2y = -2
