Question 71685
Let x=cost of hamburger mixture

Now we know that the cost of the $2.40 mixture (100*2.40) plus the cost of the $3.20 mixture(60*3.20) must equal the cost of the final mixture (160x). So our equation to solve is:

(100)($2.40)+(60)($3.20)=160x  get rid of parens

$240+$192=160x  collect like terms

$432=160x divide both sides by 160
x=$2.70 per pound-----------------------------cost of final mixture

CK

100(2.40)+60(3.20)=160(2.70)
240+192=432
432=432
