Hi,
the two shorter sides of a right triangle are 8cm and 10cm,
What is the length of the longest side {{{ highlight_green(x)}}} ?
applying the Pythagorean Theorem
8^2 + 10^2=  x^2
   x^2 = 100+64
  x^2 = 164
   x ={{{ sqrt(164) = sqrt(4*41) = 2sqrt(41)}}}     (Tossing out the negative solution for unit measure)
CHECKING our answer***
{{{ (10cm)^2 + (8cm)^2 =  100m^2 + 64cm^2 = 164cm^2 = (2sqrt(41)cm)^2}}}
