Question 71163
Solve the eqqation

(y/5)-(2/5)=(1/3)-y

First, lets get rid of the fractions by multiplying every term by 15, the LCM

{{{(y/5)(15)-(2/5)(15)=(1/3)(15)-y(15)}}}  simplify

{{{3y-6=5-15y}}} subtract 3y and also 5 from both sides

{{{3y-3y-6-5=5-5-15y-3y}}}  collect like terms

{{{-11=-18y}}} divide both sides by -18

{{{y=11/18}}} or
{{{y=0.6111}}}

ck ----------plug y=0.6111 into original equation

{{{(0.6111/5)-0.4=0.3333-0.6111}}}
{{{0.12222-0.4=0.3333-0.6111}}}

{{{-0.27778=-0.27778}}}

Hope this helps---ptaylor
