Question 830566
Ms. Enigma said: "One third of my age plus four fifths my age is the same as my age in six years." How old is Ms. Enigma now?

So what I did was I let x equal Ms. Enigma's age now.
This is what I've done so far, but I didn't get the right answer:

[ x/3 + 4/5 ] = x+6   ***** should be [ x/3 + 4x/5 ] = x+6
You left out the x.
-------------------------
[ 5x+15 + 12/15 ] = x+6
(5x+12)/15 = x+6
I then solved it as a proportion:
15x+90 = 5x+12 From here, I realized that I've obviously done something wrong; no one can have a negative age,yes? And I ended up with this:
10x = -78 And it's obviously wrong.
