Question 826966
Just use your calculator. (See the postscript if your calculator does not have a button for "ln".)
y = 5500ln(9t+4)
If t = 4.5:
y = 5500ln(9(4.5)+4)
Simplifying...
y = 5500ln(40.5+4)
y = 5500ln(44.5)
y = 5500*3.7955 (rounded to 4 places)
y = 20875.25
So there will be approximately 20900 mowers sold after 4.5 years.
P.S. If your calculator does not have a button for "ln" (that's "el-en")...

... but it does have a "log" button, then use:
{{{log((44.5))/log((2.71828))}}}
instead of
{{{ln(44.5)}}}

... and your calculator does not have a "log" button either, then use another calculator. Some options are:

An online calculator. For example, Google has one. Just do a Google search on "online calculator" and it will show you a calculator (and a list of other available online calculators).

Your computer's calculator. Windows includes a calculator program and I assume many other systems have calculator programs, too. In Windows the calculator program is often found in the "Accessories" folder. When you open it, it usually shows a very basic calculator. But if you click on the "View" menu and select the "Scientific" option, then the calculator turns into a much more sophisticated one (which has "ln" and "log" buttons among many others).

A spreadsheet program, like Excel, on your computer. It may have the ability to calculate logarithms.
