Problem Completed. (-:

Hi, there--

THE PROBLEM:
If the sum of {{{sqrt(50)}}} and {{{x*sqrt(2)}}} is {{{8*sqrt(2)}}}, find the value of x.

A SOLUTION:

Solve for x.

{{{sqrt(50)+x*sqrt(2)=8*sqrt(2)}}}

Notice that {{{sqrt(50)=sqrt(25*2)=5*sqrt(2)}}}.

{{{5*sqrt(2)+x*sqrt(2)=8*sqrt(2)}}}

Divide every term by {{{sqrt(2)}}}
{{{5+x=8}}}
{{{x=3}}}

Hope this helps! Feel free to email if you have any questions about the solution.

Good luck with your math,
