Question 821509

Sir/Madam

   Please help me solve the problem given below

The average of 8 numbers is 12.If one of them exceeds the average of remaining by
8.The number is ?

Thank you

<pre>
Let number be N
Then sum, excluding N is: 96 – N
Average of numbers, excluding N = {{{(96 - N)/7}}}
Therefore, {{{N = (96 - N)/7 + 8}}}
7N = 96 – N + 56 ------ Multiplying by LCD, 7
7N + N = 96 + 56
8N = 152
N, or number = {{{152/8}}}, or {{{highlight_green(19)}}}
You can do the check!!
