Question 817822

Lets choose something to discount and see.
Let's just say we have a coat that cost 200 dollars.
A one time discount of 14 percent would give us a sale price of
       200 - .14(200) = 172 dollars
A discount of 12 percent followed by a discount of 2 percent
   gives us.
     200 - .12(200) = 176 dollars
   and then 176 - .02(176) = 172.48
So a one time discount will give us a sale price of 172
which is better than the 2 successive discounts which would
give us a price of 171.48
