Question 68331
The number of electrons that an energy level can hold is given by:

{{{X=2n^2}}} where n is the energy level

when n=1, then {{{X=2(1)^2=2}}} 2 times 1 squared
when n=2, then {{{X=2(2)^2=8}}} 2 times 2 squared (2 squared is 4)
when n=3, then {{{X=2(3)^2=18}}} ditto
when n=4, then {{{X=2(4)^2=32}}} ditto

etc

Hope this helps-----ptaylor
