Question 68292
Find the slope of the line passing through the points (–8, –3) and (–2, 2).

Use the slope formula: {{{highlight(m=(y[2]-y[1])/(x[2]-x[1]))}}}, where m=slope, (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are two given points. (It may be easier to remember the slope as the change in y over the change in x.)
(x1,y1)=(-8,-3) and (x2,y2)=(-2,2)
{{{m=(2-(-3))/(-2-(-8))}}}
{{{m=(2+3)/(-2+8)}}}
{{{highlight(m=5/6)}}}
